On the 17th January, despite a very cold night, we had a good turnout to listen to Mr Derek Remington talk to us about “Butterflies of the UK”. He illustrated his talk with slides of numerous species of beautiful butterflies in their favoured habitat. It was most interesting for keen gardeners, wishing to encourage butterflies to their gardens.
On this occasion we changed the format of our evening slightly by offering everyone a glass of wine before our talk. This gave members and newcomers a better opportunity to meet up and socialise with one another. It worked very well and will probably be adopted for future meetings. At the end of our talk we enjoyed discussing butterflies over coffee and cake.
